Although Glasgow's port was vital to its success in previous centuries, there are currently no national or international passenger services operating directly from the city.

Ferry services: There are ferries between Scotland and Northern Ireland from a number of west-coast ports including Campbeltown, Troon, Stranraer and Cairnryan. Calmac Ferries (tel: (01475) 650 100; website: www.calmac.co.uk) run ferries on the west coast.
